A light icing event may take place this afternoon and evening. While temperatures are forecast to warm to around 39° this afternoon, the ground will take a bit longer to warm up than the air. With rain expected to begin around noon, some light icing may occur on area roadways. Road temperatures are currently in the mid 20s. Below is forecast radar imagery from noon Today to noon Monday.
As for now, no winter weather advisories are in effect across the region. However, sometimes the very light ice events have the most impact. Allow yourself extra time to drive this evening and try your best to avoid any slick spots. Below is a special statement from the NWS.
Temperatures should warm to around 40° once again on Monday as the rain continues. Temperatures this warm should melt any ice away. The main concern is the Sunday evening and Monday morning commute. Below is the GFS forecast high temperature on Monday afternoon.
I’ll keep you posted if anything changes. Have a great Sunday!
