Temperatures dropped to 10° once again overnight. This type of cold is really quite an accomplishment by the atmosphere considering the lack of snow cover on the ground. If we had some snow on the ground, we could easily be looking at temps around zero!
Given the constant, light northerly wind today, I don’t think we quite make it to 30° this afternoon. Several models are calling for a high of 28° under partly cloudy skies. I’m inclined to agree with that. Though, the northerly breeze will make things feel just a tad colder.
High pressure should move right overhead tonight. This will once again lead to colder conditions and mostly clear skies. Lows last night were a bit lower than expected, so I’m thinking the same may happen tonight. Despite models suggesting a low around 24°, I’m thinking we dip down to around 19°.
On Friday, winds should subtly shift out of the south ahead of a low pressure system located well to the west and north of the region. This will lead to high temperatures warming into the mid 30s under partly cloudy skies.
More Cold Coming
A cold front will bring a reinforcing cold shot to the region on Friday night and Saturday morning. The front may produce some increased cloudiness Friday night and Saturday. Lows will be in the low to mid 20s Friday night.
Saturday will bring mostly cloudy skies to the region. A few flurries may be possible from time to time as the afternoon high tops out around 30°. Northerly winds will once again make it feel a bit colder. Below is my reaction to more cold weather showing up in the forecast.
Cold New Year’s Eve & Day
Cold conditions return to the region New Year’s Eve. Temperatures on Sunday will remain in the low 20s and will likely drop into the single digits on Sunday night and Monday night. Be sure to stay bundled up for New Year’s festivities!
That should wrap up this forecast. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!
